Our Dojo Celebrates Its Bonenkai 2023

Our Dojo Celebrates Its Bonenkai 2023

As we ushered in the winter break, Yokohama AikiDojo marked its third year of existence with the annual Bonenkai celebration on Saturday, December 16th, 2023. Once again, Saint Maur International School generously provided the Cougar Café, a spacious venue located just above our regular practice room.

The day commenced with a festive atmosphere as both adult and children members donned seasonal Christmas hats, bringing an extra layer of joy to the practice. Recently, we have made particular effort towards the perfecting of ukemi and with the general level rising, the children took place in a high-octane class with an added challenge, not to lose one's Christmas hat during the breakfalls!

Once the class finished, the children moved to the studio next door to enjoy the projection of an animated movie, while the adults class unfolded. After practice, everyone ascended to the Cougar Café for a special meal prepared by Dantly from Cezars Kitchen. The menu featured delectable offerings, including juicy cordon bleu, roasted peppers, Caesars salad, and a peach tart. Cezars Kitchen's signature muffin provided an additional indulging touch, accompanied by a drink pack for guests to take home.

Dantly from Cezars Kitchen came especially to serve us a meal

Thirty people were able to join us this year in spite of the due to the ongoing flu epidemic, and the very busy time of the year. The day continued with cheerful conversations, wine, and soft drinks, creating a relaxed atmosphere. As the clock neared 3 pm, members joined forces to clean up the venue, officially closing the celebration and paving the way for a well-deserved winter break.
