AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Our Aikido After School Program introduces students to the fundamentals of Aikido through playful movement, basic techniques, and cooperative partner work. It fosters physical coordination, respect, self-discipline, and conflict resolution skills in a safe, supportive environment, laying the foundation for lifelong learning in martial arts and personal development.
Class Format and Contents
Our After-School Aikido Program aligns with international curricula and socio-constructivist educational principles, emphasizing learning through experience, reflection, and social interaction. Inspired by thinkers like Dewey and Vygotsky, the program fosters holistic development by integrating physical movement with cognitive and emotional growth. Students learn through guided partner work, cultivating respect, empathy, and self-awareness in a collaborative, inquiry-driven environment. These experiences support global competencies such as intercultural understanding, personal responsibility, and lifelong learning.
The detailed theoretical background that underscores our approach to teaching and learning is described in more details here.
